Modern-day renaissance man Mathew Heggem, known as the 'Dancing CEO,' is the co-founder of SUM Innovation (SUM). With three divisions providing everything from #AccTech (Accounting Technology) overhauls to full-time CFOs, this NYC-based accounting consulting firm helps fast-growth businesses and entrepreneurs transform their businesses through the power of numbers! 

In the spirit of 'awesome accountants,' SUM’s team was recently awarded the SmartCEO Corporate Culture Award for its outstanding company culture and dedication to sustainability in the workplace. As the organization’s leader, Mathew was recognized as one of CPA Practice Advisor’s 2015 "40 Under 40" honorees and was selected to participate as an industry expert on the advisory committee for Accountex, a highly acclaimed global accounting technology conference.

Prior to SUM, he gained significant experience in the world of nonprofits and last served as the Development & Communications Director for The Bookkeeping Center, an agency that assisted individuals aspiring to enter the accounting workforce as bookkeepers. During his time, The Center was awarded for its’ exemplary bookkeeping curriculum by the New York City Employment & Training Coalition for supporting middle-skills jobs.

When he’s not growing organizations, he’s writing about culture, leadership and strategy for SmartCEO, Entrepreneur.com, The Sleeter Report and various others. He loves building community and was an active member of NYC’s Conscious Capitalism chapter, serves as the Board President for the Greenwich Village-Chelsea Chamber of Commerce, and a marketing strategy consultant for ClancyWorks Dance Company.

In true renaissance fashion, Mathew is also a nationally recognized, award-winning dance artist and co-founder for an NYC-based dance company, Left Side Labs, where he choreographs and performs in collaboration with Emma Batman.
